Mathematics

Mathematics Department of Surendranath College is an age old unit of pre-independence era. It had a long legacy of student centric dedicated list of teaching faculty, Dr. Bidyut Kumar Datta, Dr. Sailendranath Basu, Dr., Salil Ranjan Maity, Dr. Jayanta Kumar Dutta, Dr. Gayatri Chatterjee to name of a few latest renowned ex-teaching faculty of this department. From 2001 onwards, this department is functioning in top floor North-West block in Science building. Statistics Department was also run by this department since its inception in 1997 when the general course of Statistics was introduced in this college, with addition of Honours course in the year 2001.

Students of this department are from almost all over the state with a large section representing the two 24 Parganas and few from the districts of North Bengal. This department has a dedicated computer laboratory, a seminar library and two separate exclusive smart classrooms.
