Brief History of The Department of Statistics
Date of establishment of the department:
- General Course in 1997
- Honours Course in 2001
- At present there are 2 (Two) SACT, 2(two) honorary faculty member from Department of Mathematics.
- At present there are 43 students in the Statistics honours course and more than 61 students in Statistics general course.
- All the students appearing in the final university exam. Passed out successfully.

- To encourage the Students Department Conducts Students Seminar /webinar
- Department conducts the career enrichment program to guide the Students about their career
- Department has an effective mentoring System to guide the Students .
Best Practice of the department :
- Department has an effective mentoring system as well as department conducts parent teacher Meeting
- Department Conducts Career enrichment program for the students .
- All the faculty members of the department created google classroom and upload the Study materials in google Classroom as well as in the College website.
- Department uses the ICT tools to promote effective teaching learning experience .

Summary: To celebrate Statistics Day on 29th June of 2021 Department of Mathematics and Department of Statistics jointly organised this Webinar using Zoom Cloud Meeting Platform. The lecture was attended by around 200 participants including undergraduate, postgraduate students and the faculty members of various colleges. The esteemed speakers delivered the valuable and interesting topic on “Role of Statistics in Management Science” and “Statistics and measurement of Indian Economy”. Question-answer sessions were also made in a lucid way to clear the ambiguity of the narrated areas asked by the participants.
Prof Champa Chakroborty, Joint Convenor of the webinar extended a really hearty vote of thanks to the speakers. Feedback form had been submitted by almost all the participants and participation certificates had been provided to all the participants in due time.
