Since  its inception in Calcutta University (1998), Surendranath College in offering Molecular Biology to the students of Biological Sciences. In Calcutta University it taught as a minor suject (previously a pass subject). The Department of Molecular Biology at Surendranath College is amply equipt with all possible  physical and electronic resources to cater to the need of its students.
